Willowmere - A Non-Morph Village

So this is an idea I’ve had kicking around for a while: a village designed specifically to accommodate creatures with more of a non-morphic body shape: ferals, quadrupeds, slitheries, avians, or what-have-you. Anthros and other creatures would, of course, still be welcome. The concept is not for excluding any groups, but simply to provide the idea of a place that these sorts of creatures have created together.

I’m hoping for feedback and suggestions that will fit in line with this concept. While I think this sounds like a good idea, it’s possible that it might not have much general interest. It’s obviously a rather niche concept. And I’d also need to find a nice, appropriate place to connect it to, since I’d ultimately want this to be a public area.

We have the even more niche Blackhoof stables and that sees regular usage, so I can’t imagine it would lack at least some interest and attract folks. I know I’d be interested to visit and see who is about.

That’s fair! I was hoping to create something that instills a sense of community and societal togetherness.

That sounds like a wonderful idea, and I’d love to see it take shape! I’ve actually been working on something similar for a while now — Tangleroot is an area designed with ferals and smaller-bodied critters in mind. My focus has been to use room scripting to create variations in interactivity specifically for small ferals, with things like alternate passages and secret spaces.

If you’re curious, I’d be glad to show you around the area sometime. It’s still developing, but the intention has always been to open it more broadly if there’s interest. I think the more we can create places that feel natural and welcoming for different shapes and sizes of characters, the richer the world will be.

I’d definitely be interested in a place like that! I have plenty of four legged things that would love to visit or even live there!

That’s a wonderful idea, and I’d love to see it! Scripting wasn’t really on my mind yet, but perhaps it should have been. I have seen another place that I can’t remember the name of which is built for feral characters, but it’s just like a series of neighboring barrows - so it’s more like a housing community, and I really want to make something that’s more like a functional town.

That’s great, thank you! I’m very excited about the prospect, but how much other people are interested in it is paramount to how much work I’d put into it, I think. :>

I adore this concept! I have a few non-morphic characters myself. I fully support a cozy little place for non-anthros to hang out in!

I just finished working on Willowmere and I’m looking for a review of the area. I’m also looking for a matching public area to anchor the village to.

Room ID: #d2h9u769gbrho4keeqtg

As someone who plays mostly feral characters, it’s always good to see more areas catering to ferals, I don’t think there is an area currently like what you’ve made. A friend of mine was working on something similar, but they haven’t had the time to finish it.

Right now, I mostly RP in my own area, but it’s aim is to be more of an expansive wilderness that one can get lost in and run across the various (mostly large) ferals that live there. So, it’s a bit of a maze. Not meant to be a social hub at all. Having something like that catering to ferals will be a good change of pace. Looking forward to seeing Willowmere added.

Perhaps someone could give me some suggestions about what I need to do about getting some eyes on this? As far as I’m aware, it hasn’t received a review and I’m not really sure how to go about finding a place it can be moored. Do I need to start a new thread just to inform people it’s ready to do something with?

You will need to post the ID of the entry room so the builders can stop by to do the inspection. There might be something else, but that’s the first step.

Well I did that a few posts and five days ago, that’s why I’m wondering if I need to start a new thread.

Oh! I missed that, sorry. I’ll see if I can prod some folks to look at the forum post and talk to the right folks.

Hi! I did go through and review your area. I sent you mail regarding my review. Perhaps it didn’t go through? I’ll resend you my review. If it somehow doesn’t get to you again, contact me here or my character Archie ‘Ace’ Hartman, and we can discuss it sometime when we’re both available.

No problem, thank you so much! I’ll take a look this evening and contact you if I didn’t receive the mail.

Willowmere is officially connected to the Isle of Wing. You can get there by going north of Talon’s Landing. I hope you all enjoy this new area!

I am happy to announce that the village of Willowmere is now open to the public as a part of the Isle of Wing! Thank you to Archie for helping me finish up, and Rimefyre for letting Willowmere join her island. Although Willowmere caters specifically to feral creatures, other guests are certainly welcome and appreciated as well!

From Sinder Town Center: go east, go south, go ferry, go talons landing, go temple road, go willowmere

Or from Talon’s Landing, simply go temple road and then go willowmere.
