Question of the week #2

To all area owners, what was your inspiration for creating your builds? It can be something ranging from a small moms-and-pops shop down to a large build like Eisenhorn and Umber Point. I also like to know how much time and work did you put towards your build, such as a map.

Most of my builds are small but are mainly used as testing grounds for a larger build I have in mind. I try to make my rooms interactive by hiding little secrets and escape room tactics that must be solved in order to explore… I haven’t done much with these yet

Me, I have two builds that I have done and I would love to share them with you guys. I’m a person that wants to ensure the best possible experience.

The first project is The Plum which I have put a lot of thought into this place. Prior to building the place, I have actually taken the time to visit at least 7 different sex shops and watch some videos to see what products they carry, how they function, and the experience when going into these types of shops, as well as looking overseas for the addition of a love hotel. During that time, I made another proposal which would be an island resort, but that idea never took off as I never knew what they were. Many lessons were learned about the operation and I decided to do another large-scale project with the build being given a second chance.

The Republic of Salagalu was my second project and actually the first proposal in this forum. Originally it was supposed to be a single city with 4 districts, but then it was delayed indefinitely due to a lack of interest until I went back and continued the project until it was finished and linked. From the August proposal, the only elements kept were the Food court, Beach Yugen, and Pacifica, while all others had changed, many to become another (Example: Spiral Tower -> Aleva Tower), and some for good (Removal of Diamond Star Tower apartment). It was also the one that I put the most work inside because I want to make it feel more alive like you’re actually in a sovereign, tourist country. If you look around, you can do some activities such as fishing in the Seven Seas, Skydiving, Bungee Jumping, visiting Mount Oyachi, and listening to Radio Stations, and with Pacifica being the main tourist city, it did its job as intended.

The Ukiyo Mall is currently going to be my 3rd project, although a smaller one in terms of room size. It’ll be mostly inspired by Mall of America (I actually visited there at least several times, this time to explore the place). It won’t have the charisma of MOA, but at least the mall is getting its own apartment to replace the RV Park.

With the few builds I’ve made, one being public, they were originally only made as a home for my characters. For inspiration, however, the ideas came about because I wanted something that fit the theme of the characters. A few characters live on an island, which fits the theme of them, at least somewhat. A few others live in the Vaell Shrine, which was actually designed to mimick the shrine from the Vaell twins past, being where they lived before. And the last character has a starship, since the species they are is a spacefaring sort, so I felt that would make sense.
