Pokemon League - Battles & More

I REALIZE THIS IS OVERWHELMING TO SOME, but this post is to gauge interest in something like this or if people might be more comfortable keeping things simple and forgoing all the stats and fun little game mechanics entirely. Feel free to comment or just submit your character form to the doc and I’ll let everybody know when we have enough bodies to start something up!

LEAGUE RULES:
Pick 2 FAVORED stats and 1 NEGATIVE stat. The 2 FAVORED stats get +5 added to every 1d20 roll made utilizing those stats. The NEGATIVE stat is given a -5. If HP is selected your HP will increase by 10 or decrease by 10.

Bonus Pool - 5 points can be distributed across the stats. If a point is added to HP, you gain +5 HP per point. The other bonuses are added to the 1d20 rolls. All 5 points can be allocated to the same stat or spread out as you see fit. (See Example below)

These must be selected prior to registration in the League. They can’t be changed while a ladder is in progress, but can be changed prior to registering for a new season. Please include your move pool in your registration as well as any unique typing your Pokemon may have! Yes, it’s perfectly fine to bring the fantasy in and says you’re a water type Charizard hybrid. I’m not going to stamp on creative liberty.

Ruleset - Roll 1d20 to hit, dodge, and calculate damage. The type of move used will determine which stat bonus to apply. ATK - DEF and SP ATK - SP DEF are used to calculate damage.

Moonblast

(SP ATK): 30% chance to lower targets SP ATK stat by -1
Protect: Negate one attack. Can’t be used consecutively.
Heal Bell: Cure teammate of any status condition.
Wish: Restore 1d20 HP the round after this move is used.

There are plans to have a tournament for single and double battles, races, and other athletic feats.

MECHANICS
Paralysis/Infatuation - Roll 1d2, 2 allows an attack roll, 1 skips your turn. The SPD stat is 0.5x while afflicted.
Sleep - Roll 1d2, 2 wakes up, 1 skips your turn. Wake up automatically after 2 failures.
Poison - Roll 1d5 at the beginning of the poisoned Pokemon’s turn and take the result as damage.
Burn - Roll 1d3 at the beginning of the burned Pokemon’s turn and take the result as damage. All ATK based moves deal 0.5x damage.
Confusion - Roll 1d2, 2 allows an attack roll, 1 makes the afflicted Pokemon roll 1d10 and take the result as damage.
Leech Seed - Roll 1d4 at the beginning of the afflicted Pokemon’s turn and take the result as damage. The user of Leech Seed gains 0.5x this amount of HP.
Perish Song - The afflicted Pokemon will lose the battle by default on the third turn after the move is used. The Pokemon which uses this move can no longer avoid attacks for the remainder of the battle.
Flinch/Status % Chance - The Pokemon using a move that causes Flinch rolls 1d100, causing a Flinch if the roll is below the percent chance to cause a Flinch. (Example: 30% chance, 1d100 is rolled and they roll a 17. This causes a Flinch. If they roll a 31 the Flinch will not happen.)
Freeze - A Frozen Pokemon rolls 1d4, thawing on a 4. If Sunlight is active they roll 1d2 and thaw on a 2.
Super Effective - 2x damage is applied.
Resistant - 0.5x damage is applied.
Not affected - 0 damage is applied.
STAB - If a user shares the type of a move they’re using they deal 1d5 extra damage after the initial 1d20 roll.
There are no held items.
No potions or berries can be used.
No abilities will be used during battle. Trying to keep things somewhat simple.
