Yeah, that can be a little difficult at times.
The best thing you can do in that situation is to have a well filled out about section which tries to let other people know what kind of role play you’re interested in and things about your character which might be interesting to others that they can use for role play.
After you have that set up the next thing you can do is try politely and respectfully approaching people out of character (whispers/messages marked as ooc tend to be best) if you happen to see somebody who is interesting to you. It can help if you already have an idea in mind. If they happen to be busy already then just acknowledge that and try again later without being too insistent about it. Sometimes people are simply busy and there’s not much real play to be found.
As far as where to go is concerned - The area name and little number. If you click that it’ll let you navigate area view and see where the population is. (Unless they’re in private places of course)
