Humble Ban Appeal

Hello everyone,

Shylocke/Flintlock/Millicent here.

As you know, I was originally banned over a year ago for violating a no-contact order on Wolfery. Many of you are aware I evaded that ban for the following year. I want to take responsibility for my actions and be honest about what happened. I knowingly violated the NCO and was rightly punished for it regardless of circumstance and content. And while I was trying to contribute positively to the community during the time of my ban evasion, I recognize that wasn’t the right way to get back into the community.

I’m writing this appeal in an effort to get back into the community (area) I helped build and many others have taken over in my stead with the promise I will continue to abide by the community guidelines and represent the community well. I’m prepared to accept any conditions the staff believe are appropriate.

I care about this community and the people in it and many have proven they care for me the same.

Thank you all so much.

I will not argue over if the ban was deserved as I agree with you. It was. Not many people are willing to admit that. Sometimes we do thing we know are wrong in an attempt to help someone. Admitting you knew you would get in trouble tells me that this is not an excuse or evasion tactic. It is you asking for another chance. I messed up, I’m sorry, can I try again? Your ability to do things like this has brought you many friends. Myself included. You have show me that you are a kind and caring person, sometimes to your own detriment and many here miss you because of it. I hope that if this second chance would not be granted on your behalf then maybe it can be granted on ours. We want you back.

Despite the evasion, they’ve shown to keep to those that want them and areas that need them. They built an area several long time players frequent and love and the place is still seeing new traffic today.

Thank you for the endorsement <3

I can attest, they have been a positive and outgoing presence in The Underground’s outside-Wolfery community. Arranging movie nights, generally being supportive towards the rest of the UG folks over in the external chat server. I would appreciate them being given another chance, particularly with the acknowledgement of how the evasion was not the way to go about things.

Any kind words from the Lady of the Tiles makes my heart sing. Thank you.

Finally ended up making an account on the forums, that’s how much this matters to me.

They are a pretty important person to my history on Wolfery, and are among the reasons as to why i have grown to be a competent roleplayer being able to write long paragraphs.

outside of that, they are a brilliant and positive influence, both during their time on wolfery and even now outside of it.

The acknowledgement of the fact that they were in the wrong shows that they should be given another chance, so i kindly plead their case.

I’m not very good typing out this kinda stuff but I wholeheartedly give an endorsement for the sweet gutter-rat’s return. They’ve been a wonderous part of building the UG, --and frankly many other things.–

I also would like to vote for a unban

I would also like to request that the ban be lifted. Without forgiving the fact that Flintlock got in trouble in the first place, this really is a wonderful person. She made some mistakes, but she has been and continues to be a strong advocate for Wolfery as a social platform, and for the Underground, which flourishes with her participation even from outside the MUCK.

I’m no wordsmith, so I’ll keep it short.

Yes plz.

I’ve had a few really positive and fun interactions with you during the time you were around, and would really enjoy having you around again. So i do hope it’s possible for you to get another chance, given the rules are respected this time around.

I’d love to see you back, dear rat.

To the community, I know this person is kind, helpful and creative. Can realize when mistakes or wrong turns were made and willing to rectify them.
Look at the Underground she built; Peiradyne she very much helped to build. And the out-of-RP community has been wonderful and pleasant as well.

Rat is kind and good. I would love to see the ban lifted, and her given another chance. I miss writing with my mama.

I hope any staff reading this consult and take into account the views of the beneficiary of the NCO, who may not feel entirely comfortable about expressing themselves here.

(I don’t know who they are, just feels a little one-sided without their input - unless, of course, they’ve given it already.)

I too would like to see Flintlock return.

Having heard at least one side of the conflict between them and the other person of the mentioned NCO, I doubt their differences are resolvable.

That doesn’t mean the NCO can’t be put back into place, should she be given another chance. I’d say more on the matter, but this really isn’t the place. As much as I’d really like to say more.

I have not needed to issue an NCO on wolfery. I have had one placed against me in the past, which I have respected. Now if someone violates that NCO and is banned, I would not wish the victim to be watching their back with every new character created in fear of interacting with that person. Evading a ban on an NCO violation is particularly heinous for the victim, and I think doing so clearly shows a clear disrespect for moderation and their efforts.

Now I do not know the length of time warranted on Shylocke’s ban. I had heard that it was permanent. That they have done good for the community or that they are sorry for ban evading I do not see as good reason to reconsider.

Even if real mistakes were made, as were acknowledged, that bit of the situation is willingly able to be rectified.

Shylocke to my knowledge has never interacted with the ‘victim’ during all of the Underground and Pieradyne time, at least 6 months of easy avoidance. I may be wrong but I believe this is true. Avoidance on Shylocke’s end is pretty damn easy on a platform where you can block people.

I do agree with Floof on it, Shylocke has, as far as my knowledge is, obeyed the NCO even while ban evading, and as far as i know they ban evaded because they wanted to keep the community they worked on stay alive.

and i do not feel like using the term Victim is even remotely appropriate here, unless you can claim to know both sides of the story and have a completely objective view.

and at the end of the day, intent matters a fair bit in determining things in the legal world, so we probably shouldn’t ignore it here, just reinstate the NCO if there is a concern about the other side, the community as a whole would benefit from Shylocke being back, and they clearly acknowledged they messed up.

While we discuss this internally I will make two statements here:
1: We absolutely ‘listened to his side of the story’, particularly on the original incident. The nature of that incident means we will not discuss it for user privacy reasons, however.
2: During the time period you mention there have absolutely been NCO violations. In September for example there was what we deemed an NCO violation that was specifically crafted to try to evade the reporting system.

Pardon, I feel it necessary to chime in here now. What are you referring to specifically? I have not interacted with the original NCO person once in that timespan.
