Grey mute bar hiding?

Hey folks! I know many of us end up muting people for our own reasons, good ones, bad ones, whatever.

But despite that, we often find ourselves mousing over to read that little damn grey bar to see what they said…And the whole point is to eliminate that toxic behavior from my gameplay.

Is it at ALL possible to add an option to completely HIDE everything, including that grey bar? The purpose for me is to avoid toxic characters but the compulsion to mouse over and read what they said is SO STRONG.

Is it possible? Help save me from myself!!

Thanks and love to all <3

I get that compulsion, too. I only mute travel messages to cut down on the amount of spam/log window space that get taken up, but find my mouse hovering over the grey bar to see who entered/exited the room since last I looked.

I do notice that if a character you’re focused on enters/exits the room your character is in, then the travel messages are not muted.

Have you tried using the focus feature to highlight characters you want to interact with (help focus)? I didn’t discover it until a month or so after I started logging into to Wolfery regularly and it improved my experience immensely.

Mmhmm. I focus on anyone I’m talking to regularly.

But when someone that’s been purposefully doing things to spite and/or hurt me by RPing out scenes in front of me that are intended to cut at me after breaking ties with them, I don’t even want the temptation to click that grey bar.

It’s hard not to do.

I just…want them to disappear from my screen. It’s keeping me from visiting my normal spots because of it =\

This is easy to do. Just get an extension like Stylus (Chrome, Firefox and Opera) that lets you tamper with styles. Then, you can just add a little custom style of…

.charlog-muted {
    display: none !important;
}

To that end, though, you’ll have a much better time here if you find a way to be at ease with folk playing around you regardless of any history you might have with them. People in public will keep referencing others and it’s only a matter of time before they pop up somehow even if you do hide the character itself.

Community hides my resolution to reducing mental stress. This is really backwards. Hit a threshold and your comment is gone.

There is always kickback. It doesn’t make the idea worth considering.

And why don’t we have a GAG feature?

This is because you were airing personal issues that could be tracked back to the other party, in this thread. I and another moderator made the decision to remove that post since it ran the risk of violating their privacy.

The idea will be judged on its merits, of which there are some good sides to it.
