Console-based Wolfery Client - yreflow

Hello all!

I have developed a console version of the wolfery client, in a project I am calling yreflow. Right now the software should be considered alpha quality. It doesn’t support new user flow, and I’m sure there’s a ton of bugs to track down, and it’s not full featured. The release is on github here: yreflow. There’s a lot of information about the client, including a list of supported commands on the github page.

Please feel free to comment here if you try it, or find Kredden or Zari on Wolfery. I’m looking for 2-5 testers who want to use this as a daily driver solution so they can help me make it feature complete.

Hmmm, fallout wolfery.

Console version? As in gaming console?

Only if it runs Python 3.11+
((He means text console, like cmd. No browser.))

Ah, classic style, I guess.

This gives me vibes back to original MUCK clients but also F-List still resembles this.

char… char never changes

Well this is freaking cool. Can I have somfin like this for TAPS too? =3 Will it work with Last Flame Inn?

Taps no. I’m not backporting all that work to taps.

But hey, I will support other realms someday. GIven the pace of development probably soon. ((THis would also involve me logging into a different realm))

By day, I wash my RL puppets; by night, I hassle Zari for blinding my VR puppets. :cat_with_wry_smile:

For those who haven’t tried yet, the week has seen many changes - room description, exits and navigation, controlling existing registered puppets - even limited image support!

There’s still lots of fiddly stuff with all sorts of formatting and autocomplete, and areas aren’t yet touched, but it’s getting there in the sense of being able to use it to explore and interact.

Looks super fancy; I’d love to see this support the inn and the weird thingy we have going with the room descriptions in there.

You might not have to wait too long.

Not sure if I should post this here or on Github but I get this error every time:

UnicodeEncodeError: 'charmap' codec can't encode character '\u25aa' in position 3550: character maps to <undefined>

I’d suggest GitHub; it sounds like maybe there is an issue on your platform configuration with the font for the the activity notifier at the top right which shows a coloured square (the character in question is meant to be ‘BLACK SMALL SQUARE’, black in this case meaning filled in).

Also, are you using Windows 10 (vs. 11?) or another OS?
The issue is fixed in 0.2.3 - you can upgrade with uv tool upgrade yreflow.
