Changes to the Sinder Train Station!

Hi! We have updated the Train Station in Sinder! So, the Grey Line as of late was getting crowded and the builders have decided to fix that by reintroducing the Red Line! If you have been here a while, you might remember the Red Line trolley that went through Cape Theia, to Patchwork Square and Umber Point. Well, Cape Theia is no longer accessible, and Patchwork Square was attached to Lamplight, so it had no use anymore and Umber was attached to the Grey Line.

After a new place, Pieradyne, was approved, we decided that the Grey Line would be a little too crowded with it. So, we reintroduced the Red Line. This time, it’s been changed! No longer is it a trolley, it is a full-blown train! It sits right on the second platform, in the same area as the Grey Line. As of writing this post, it currently has 2 areas attached to it:

  • Umber Point
  • (The New) Pieradyne Rise

The Red Line is intended to hold the areas that have darker and/or more extreme themes, and as such, will probably not get as large as the Grey Line. Either way, it’s here now! Get in touch if you have any questions. We hope you enjoy the changes!

Just out of curiosity, wouldn’t Lamplight be more suited for the Red Line, then?

I like the idea of putting content that some might find uncomfortable behind a specific train- perhaps a small in-character sign warning that people traveling along the red line might encounter less safe or risque content would be in order.

Although, @Vernon_Otter - I do kind of object to the idea that Lamplight is, in and of itself, a ‘darker’ themed location. Certainly extreme, but not dark by itself. Definitely probably worth the red line, though.

Not necessarily dark, no, much is pretty lighthearted. But I interpreted the original post was saying ‘dark’ and ‘extreme’ as separate items, not ‘dark and extreme’ as both qualifiers.

Yes sorry, I should have been slightly more specific. I meant them as separate terms! I have edited the post to clarify.

Where the exit for Lamplight will be residing is something still being processed! I will edit the post if it gets put on the Red Line.

I can’t help but notice that said “dark/extreme places” also seem to be the most popular on the train system, and at times (though not right now) the most popular aside from Sinder.

In that sense I guess it would make sense to have Lamplight on the Red Line (if you’re going between the three of them, it’d avoid having to change at Sinder), but there is a risk that the locations on the Grey Line get less traffic from ‘passing trade’ than they do already.

We’re probably past the point of this being viable, but some kind of physical relationship on the map that makes the eventual assignment make sense would also be nice to have.

I would love to see a separate train for lamplight… perhaps a magic carpet ride or some other kid-like theming?

Umber Point and Pieradyne are dark and gritty, explicitly. I understand @Vernon_Otter’s comment about lamplight fitting the ‘more extreme’ wording of Pet Detective Ventura’s original post, but it doesn’t fit the same ‘well fuck me I didn’t plan on getting stabbed in a dark alley tonight’ theme, it fits a more…

I’ll settle with calling it different.

I guess one idea since Lamplight is so dispersed is to put an additional stop on the Red Line in the Slums rather than replace the Grey Line stop. This would clarify which area is truly “dark and extreme” and help ‘revitalise’ the area, which had already started with the addition of a broken-down park.

A magic carpet would fit a fantasy realm like Candy Land, or a Tooniverse, but Lamplight and Patchwork are more realistically set, at least in terms of construction and area descriptions.

In addition unless things get more complex in the future the simple definition of the Red Line as a content warning is nice for new users.
