On one hand you’re absoultey correct. On the other one, we need some easy to remember way to refer to specific individuals. Having a full name kind of solves the problem of showing it on screen (where just the first name part is shown) and when using it (in e.g. mail). Yes, it is slightly inconvenient that you need to come up with something, but honestly, it really shouldn’t be that hard. You don’t need to see the naming as “first name and last name” specifically, it’s omre of a “first word and the rest”, and one word names are just not allowed. Do they exist in practice? Yes. It’s just impractical to support all kinds of real word names.
